How to get it to work

I have a sony DVD player model dvp NS315
I got it hooked up and i can tell that it is running but dont see a picture on the T.V. I do not have a manuel. Is there a certian channel my T.V needs to be on or what? Please help Tv is a RCA
32 inch.
