Philips DVDR70

I have just bought this machine and spent a fortune on DVD+R Disks (Arita 4x DVD+R disks to be exact) every single disk in the spindle of 50 gets 10 seconds into recording and freezes the whole machine up, when I go back into the disk to try again, the machine claims the disk is totaly blank... am I doing something wrong, have I bought uncompatible DVD+R's and if so can anyone recommend a compatible / reliable brand ???

help me please...
