Hack Gone Wrong

I downloaded and burned a cd to hack my Sanyo 7201 (bought in Japan), following the instructions at http://www.marsh1975.freeserve.co.uk/. At the end of the process, instead of the red standby light coming on, the player went dead. Can't even turn it on to eject the cd. I understand for hacks gone wrong, a new firmware chip can be bought and installed to get it running again. Any info on this? Thanks in advance.
