first hack for the E30:

turn machine off,
hold down (on the machine itself) open/close,pause & stop all at the exact same time for about 5 seconds untill the machine turns itself on.

'SERVICE MENU' will appear on the machine, not the tv.

from here pres 0, then 2 on the remote to access region, then the machine itself will rotate through various other menus, leaving 5 seconds between each mode. (REGION 2, MAIN 0950E5, TIMER 0540E5, DRIVE A108, ROM M001)

exactlly how to change these regions is another question, as I did'nt want to push my machine, so I thought I'd leave it up to the experts to finish the work.

other combinations of numbers work to,

0, followed by 1

0, followed by 2

1, followed by 3 (or vice versa)
