I am running XP and I also have Easy CD 6 Platinum installed. I installed
the dvd-ram driver and saw that its dvd format program was not invoked if I
did a right click->format on the drive. I then uninstalled Drag to Disc and
saw the DVDform interface. (the manual warned that the dvd-ram drivers are
not compatible with other packet software). If I put a new dvd-ram disc in,
however, it keeps
saying that the drive is in use and cannot select any format options (FAT32,
UDF1.5, UDF2.0). If I try to drag a file to it, it says that is not a
writable drive. I f I try to write to it using the GOLD5 software, it say it
can't write to a packet formated disc. I was able to drag files to the drive
using Roxio drag to disc.

If I insert a dvd-ram disc that I burned using my Panasonic E80H, drive
properties says the format is UDFRDR. It also says it is Type: CD Drive, but
next to the disc label field is an icon that shows a CD with the words "DVD
RAM" beneath it. The label name is MEI_UDF, it has a directory named
DVD_RTAV with the following files: VR_MANGR.BUP, VR_MANGR.IFO, VR_MOVIE.VRO

If I put the dvd-ram disc in that I tried Roxio drag to disc with when I had
that installed, I can still drag files to it. So the dvd-ram drivers must
be working (or the old roxio drivers are still around). It shows a file
system named CDUDFRW. What format is this??

Questions:
1. So, how can I get to the point where I can format the dvd-ram disc?
2. Curious when it says UDFRDR, is that 1.5 or 2.0? How different is that
from CDUDFRW?
3. What I want to end up doing is being able to burn video to dvd-ram in a
format readable by the E80, so I can edit the video on that machine, I like
its ability much better than my pc software. How should I make the video on
the the PC to be compatible?

Also, I can read a dvd+r disc from this drive. My computer still says it is
a CD drive with UDF file system.

Sorry for the multiple posts... I also have an HP 300e drive, and it also
shows up as type: CD Drive. The name is dvd/cd-rw drive before you put a
disc in and the panasonic's name is dvd-ram drive.

Pick your packet writing software and don't install others at the same
time....IF you have things hosed up you may need to uninstall all writing
software packages and start from fresh as there may be conflicts in the
registry etc...Make sure the software you choose has support for all your
burners. I would guess that at least one of your drives came with drive
specific software so it wont work with both drives.

The dvd-ram drive came with specific drivers. But Roxio packet also works.
From what I understand, Roxio only supports writing to a RAM drive using
packet software. Ie, you can use dvd-builder to write to it.

So the main issue to me is what packet format is compatible with the
Panasonic home dvd players/recorders. And what do I need to write to it.
