I have two DVD drives: a Pioneer DVD106 drive and a MadDog MD-16XDVD9A4 drive. The Pioneer is a read-only drive, the MadDog is a reader/burner.

However, there are some CDs (Phantom of the Opera, Jekyl and Hyde, Moonlight Mile to name a few), that my Pioneer drive will not even recognize. By this I mean that when I put the DVD in the drive the green light comes on for 5 seconds, goes off for 5 seconds, goes back on for 5 seconds and then the DVD automatically ejects. The MadDog drive doesn't have a problem reading/playing any DVD I've ever put in it (it's only a few months old).

Both drives seem to be Region 1 and the DVDs are all marked either Region 1 or "All Regions".

I'm pretty computer literate, but DVD illiterate. Does anyone have any idea why I can't play these DVDs on the Pioneer?
