The big news is, my wife just bought me a DVD recorder
for Christmas. It's made by RCA (model: DRC8295N) It's has both a DVD
recorder and a VHS. It is +R, +RW. It cost $297 at Wal-Mart. Where's a good
place to get +R discs? And what brands? Should I stay away from "no-names"? I
won't be able to tell you much more info, like how it
works, until after Christmas. I'm extremely excited.

Hello, well on you question on what kind of DVD+R's to buy the ones you buy
in the store are the same brand that you can buy online from places like
www.supermediastore.com or www.meritline.com or www.rima.com and also about
what kind of media to buy I would reccommend these brands and they are the
best as far as quality goes and they don't cost as much as buying them in
the store. You should go for Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Prodisc, and Verbatim
media. They make the best dvd+r and dvd+rw media. The ones you get in the
store that are made by Maxell or Sony or Memorex are not made by them
companies. They are made by CMC or Ricoh Japan. Look at the media box if
your buying from the store and if it says made in Japan then it should be
really nice media but if it says made in Taiwan then you have to be careful
cause not all Taiwan made media is good. I would reccommend one of the three
stores from above since they are trustworthy and I have ordered from two of
them. Taiyo Yuden is the best for quality wise with Ritek and Prodisc and
Verbatim not being to far behined but they cost less. If you have any more
questions just ask. Also you can go to www.videohelp.com and look for things
there since they have everything on media to other dvd stuff related info.

Imation and Verbatim seem to be reliable.
I've had no problems with these brands of DVD's.

I've had a few problems with cheaper DVD disks mainly of phyical
damage caused by the manufacture of the disk.
If you buy in bulk a pack of 25 disks and 2 are faulty then you'll
still getting good value if the price is cheap.
It's best to get a small amount of lower quality or a cheap brand of
DVD to try before buying in bulk to save money.
A friend of mind says he's had less problems with DVD+R/RW Disks
compared to DVD-R/RW.

Regards Brian
